It was my first visit to New York with my art college, in 1993, that inspired me to develop a totally different form of art. Through various colourful contemporary fimo commissions of New York sights, I began to develop my unique style. Since this work I have received various commissions from American customers who have asked me to create pictures of sites across the city. Through each commission I have tried to exemplify the colour and energy of this magnificent city.
My most challenging fimo commission, and largest to date, was the Manhattan skyline, which was commissioned by a private customer who had seen my work in a gallery just before 9/11. Once completed, Twin Towers and all, it was nearly the size of a typical front door. The piece was framed in a large Perspex box and is now hanging from chains in a ranch in North Carolina USA.
My Central Park commission was published in the first ever book on Polymer Clay / Fimo by Mary Maguire in 1996.
